Unfortunately, from the 1st January this year (2023), the WASZP class have updated their rules to make manufacturer supplied toestraps mandatory on all new boats. See an extract from the WASZP class rules found here:

(b) This rule comes into effect on 1 January 2023: For boats first sold before 2023, foot straps shall be manufacturer-supplied or of similar function and material (polyester for the load-bearing strap) to those provided by the manufacturer. High modulus materials such as Dyneema, Spectra, Kevlar and Carbon are prohibited. For all boats sold in 2023 and onwards, manufacturer-supplied foot straps must be used.

This is disappointing as the whole point with these INGEN toestraps was to make the boat easier to sail. I believe that I have achieved that aim and only hope now that these new class toestraps live up to expectations.

I would like to thank everyone who has bought a set and hope that they enjoy them. My toestraps will remain available for purchase, however you will need to ensure your boat was delivered before 1st January 2023 (around WASZP 3500) to race legally with my toestraps fitted.

What happens to INGEN Sailing now? I have a few other bits and bobs on the website that I am still allowed to sell and I will always be on the lookout for the next thing to help make the boat easier to sail. INGEN will continue, just with a small change of direction :)

Cheers,

Sam
